Lower River Puelo
The lower river Puelo stretches from the town of the same name Lake Tagua Tagua and is a superhiway for migratory salmonids and big resident predator trout. From the Reloncavi Estuary throughout the tidal effected lower stretches, big Bows and Browns patrol the riffles and runs all year round seeking the unwary smolts and other migrating baitfish, in addition to the pancoras crabs and midsummer insect life.
Add in the runs of Coho, Atlantic, Steelhead and Chinook salmon. that constantly move through these wáter and the seasonal specialists to help you find and catch them and the fishing gets very interesting.
This is big river fishing with only a few tributaries on the lower stretch, but you’ll never run out of water. Most times of year, boats are necessary due to difficult access and our well seasoned guides can move you to countless spots up and down the Lower River, hunting your quarry of choice.

Upper River Puelo
Above the cristal clear Lake Tagua Tagua, the watershed of the great Puelo diversifies into numerous tributary streams, with legendary names ringing through fishing yarns of as many languages as years. The fishing on this stretch is more focussed on resident trout, with lighter equipment and tactics to suit. Nymphs and streamers during the day and an evening hatch with some dry fly action are the tonic, though the jumping salmon in some areas make for an interesting distraction. The valley itself is as breathtaking as the fishing.
The trout tend to move into the shorelines, braids and tributaries to get out of the way of the salmon, and big fish can be found in small water. So close to the saltwater sound, the migratory fish are usually bright throughout the upper mainstem of the Puelo, and are always a possibility.
We have varied lodging on the upper Puelo as well, from comfortable cabins attended by seasonal staff, to a gran hotel hideaway for couples or heads of state, sneaking a bit of strategic quiet time.

Río Puelo inferior
El río Puelo inferior se extiende desde la ciudad del mismo nombre hasta el lago Tagua Tagua y es una supervía para los salmónidos migratorios y las grandes truchas depredadoras residentes. Desde el Estuario de Reloncaví, a lo largo de los tramos inferiores afectados por las mareas, grandes arcos y marrones patrullan los riffles y las carreras durante todo el año en busca de esguines incautos y otros peces de cebo migratorios, además de los cangrejos pancoras y la vida de los insectos en pleno verano.
Si a esto le añadimos las corrientes de salmón coho, atlántico, steelhead y chinook que se mueven constantemente por estas aguas y los especialistas estacionales que le ayudarán a encontrarlos y capturarlos, la pesca se vuelve muy interesante.
Se trata de una pesca en un gran río con sólo unos pocos afluentes en el tramo inferior, pero nunca se quedará sin agua. En la mayoría de las épocas del año, es necesario el uso de embarcaciones debido a la dificultad de acceso, y nuestros experimentados guías pueden trasladarle a innumerables lugares en el tramo inferior del río, a la caza de su presa preferida.

Río Puelo Superior
Por encima del cristalino lago Tagua Tagua, la cuenca del gran Puelo se diversifica en numerosos arroyos afluentes, con nombres legendarios que resuenan en hilos de pesca de tantos idiomas como años. La pesca en este tramo se centra más en las truchas residentes, con equipos y tácticas más ligeras. Las ninfas y los streamers durante el día y una eclosión nocturna con algo de acción con mosca seca son la tónica, aunque los salmones saltarines en algunas zonas suponen una distracción interesante. El valle en sí es tan impresionante como la pesca.
Las truchas tienden a desplazarse hacia las orillas, los trenzados y los afluentes para apartarse del camino de los salmones, y se pueden encontrar peces grandes en aguas pequeñas. Tan cerca del sonido del agua salada, los peces migratorios suelen ser brillantes en todo el curso principal superior del Puelo, y son siempre una posibilidad.
En el alto Puelo también tenemos alojamiento variado, desde cómodas cabañas atendidas por personal de temporada, hasta un gran hotel escondite para parejas o jefes de estado, que se toman un tiempo de tranquilidad estratégico.
